Educational Models from Dental Input Advisory Service
Twice life size periodontal teaching model
This periodontal teaching model consists of anatomically carved teeth set in natural coloured bone.
The removable soft tissue flange demonstrates the inflammatory response with changes in colour and contour. There is also a soft silicone version of the flange which permits demonstration of the increased probing depth associated with these changes.
With the flange removed there are two walled defects visible from the buccal aspect. The lower first molar has a through/through furcation involvement and a lower incisor has a bony dehiscence with an associated gingival cleft.
The nature of the periodontal pocket and the full implications for home care and professional therapy can be readily explained and demonstrated with these dental teaching models at the chairside.
